Missing Engagement Opportunities

As we all know the Superbowl was just a few days ago. This Superbowl was the single most watched Superbowl in history. Not only that it was also the single most watched television program in history, with over 100+ million viewers. That is an unbelievable amount of opportuntity to connect with consumers while getting your message out to the world.

For as many people that love and tune in the watch the game, many people tune in just to watch and criteque the commercials. This in itself has become a big deal over the years. With a single 30 second spot costing around $2 million dollars of air time you better have a clear and concise message that plays out as fun and reverent. As Heather Whaling of PRtini asked, "will Super Bowl ads intergrate online and offline?" I guess we have an answer Heather. NO!

Gary Vaynerchuk had some very spot on insight into this exact topic during the Superbowl about ads, advertisers, and how they should have engaged beyond there media buy dollars. Check out Gary's video insights into how Denny's and Doritos missed opportunities to engage. 

I couldn't agree with what he is saying more!

Take a look at this great promotion I can almost guarantee you did NOT know about. 

 

Some of you may or may not have been aware that you could go to Denny's on Tuesday (the 9th) and receive a free Grand Slam Breakfast. Another thing to note, Denny's offers free Grand Slam's on your birthday as well as FREE BURGER and FRIES to the first 500,000 people to simple JOIN their REWARDS club!

Come on this stuff is simple and best of all FREE. Denny's is doing so many things right, in fact GREAT. Yet they are FAILING at connecting well!

You could have done a lot better Denny's, but don't feel bad you are not the only one and by far not the worst!

Top 3 Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl forty four has come and gone. The commercials will live on though in infamy on the net thanks to Youtube and millions of video lovers.

There were some decent ads I thought and some really dumb, old, pretty played out ads I thought. Let's be honest here most companies in this day and age are doing a HORRIBLE job of connecting with the consumer on a social media level. I have an entire take about companies missing engagement opportunites that I think you should check. 

Let's get back to the commericals I did like though.

Then a commercial that you didn't see during the Superbowl.

You may not agree with this one, but I don't care! I love sports, I am an ENTHUSIAST. Deal with it. Furthermore I think it's funny, not at the expense of Tiger or his marriage. Just plain ass funny.

Social Media ~ Like Milk with Cereal

We have all heard the term ECO-nomics, and for most understand in simple terms what it means...

“Economics” - is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. The term economics comes from the Ancient Greek οἰκονομία (oikonomia, "management of a household, administration")

Recently the national and for that matter global economy has been changing. In some industries for some time this has been occurring for the past decade or so. I am not speaking of the changes we are seeing today on Wall-street or in the Real Estate and Car Industry.

No, the “CHANGE” I am speaking of is change in the way people and business are interacting and communicating. From the way that people communicate between friends on a day to day basis, to the way that consumers seek to find information and communicate with their Phone Company or favorite restaurant. Individuals are starting to interact with the companies and businesses that they receive and purchase services from on a more personal and direct level.

Social media today is everywhere!

Go ahead and take your pick. Please first take this piece of advice; if you’re going to be on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo, Posterous, Myspace, Flickr, FriendFeed or any other medium and you chose to not “invest” then just don’t bother. For those of us who are collaborating, exchanging ideas, growing, learning, seeking, changing, inspiring, and participating in the daily ‘give & take’ of Social Media please don’t get in the way if you’re not going to contribute to the conversation.

There is only ONE way to get anything out of your social media relationship and that is to give of you. This relationship will not allow you to be selfish or introverted. You can be in the literal sense; however you are doing yourself, any readers you may achieve and all others a disservice operating under this pretext.

Election Poster; Creative Process

It's Student Electionday at our daughters school. She came home and told Lisa and I that she wanted to be PRESIDENT! That's fantastic, now to make it happen. Posters were the order of the day. We brainstormed some words, ideas, etc. 

At one point Lisa through out, "I WANT YOU." I quickly Googled "Uncle Sam" and found an old military recruiting poster. After altering the colors and verbage I thought we might be on to something.

Then for the REAL work. I had to take a pic of our daughter and super-impose it onto the poster so that it looked believable and high quality.

Step #1 - Find Base Image.

Step #2 - Find image of Lily to use as "subject" face

Step #4 - Overlay and be CREATIVE!!!

MT Blue Raider Athletics Logo Football

I have a deep love of Sports. Out of that came the creation of this piece. Tomorrow will be September 1st. On Saturday my almumatuer MTSU will be in Clemson, SC to take on the Clemson Tigers.

I post often about the Blue Raiders. This left me wanting an original image I could post that was fun, creative, realistic, but yet not over done or too artsy. Check it out and GO BLUE RAIDERS!

This is a Crash and Burn for the Creative and Proof Advertising guys at FullSail. I mean come on guys, you may have "One of the Top Five Game-Degree Programs in the World" but your programmers apparantly have no idea how to play the games.
